PIECING IT ALL TOGETHER:  THE ART OF COLLAGE

     COL●LAGE [kuh-lahzh,koh-] a technique of composing a work of art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with one another, such as newspaper clippings, parts of photographs,
theater tickets and fragments of an envelope -noun.  Dictionary.com
defines collage in very broad terms. 
     This spring the Valley Art Center redefined the wonderful world of collage.  We highlighted traditional and contemporary methods of creating collages with a diversity of materials, artistic styles and points of view!  And visitors to our Opening Night were pleased to view the 8’ x 12’ collage by Gretchen Bierbaum, Founder/President of the
National Collage Society as well as meet her!  Gretchen was available to sign her books and promote her collage workshop being held later at VAC.    
     The VAC would like to thank the Reed Family, Chagrin Falls, for their support of our gallery programs.
