The Valley Art Center (VAC) celebrated 40 years with IMAGINE, A Benefit to Celebrate 40 Years of Imagination, The Valley Art Center 1971-2011, on Friday, August 12. The community joined us for a fabulous night of amazing art, great food, live music and starlight dancing with the Rockin' Ravers!
Designed to showcase our newly renovated facility at 155 Bell Street and the past 40 years of providing visual arts education to the Chagrin Valley, this event was a fun walk down memory lane to 1971! Each room at VAC was decorated after a popular song from 1971, such as Ain’t No Sunshine (downstairs pottery studio), You’ve Got A Friend (history of VAC), and of course, Imagine (theme room). Also, local artists designed and painted wooden chairs, painted canvases and donated their own artwork for an awesome auction full of one-of-a-kind pieces! And, groovy attire was apparent throughout the building, ending with a Costume Contest full of tie dye and funk! The evening started at 6pm with a Special Acknowledgement Ceremony followed by a Cocktail Hour beginning at 7pm and Dinner and Dancing starting at 8pm until 11pm. VAC wishes to thank the community for their continuous support of our mission to present, promote and teach the visual arts in the Chagrin Valley. |
