"Creatures Featured" Opening Night Friday, April 5 from 6-8pm Exhibit Dates April 6--May 16, 2013 |

Did you know that cows can sleep standing up but can only dream lying down? Or, that all polar bears are left-handed? Or, that the hummingbird is the only animal that can fly backwards? Or, that ostriches can run faster than horses, and the males can roar like lions? Well, if you love animals you’re goin’ love our “feature” of all creatures big and small!
This spring, the Valley Art Center will fill its Margaret“Peg” Bowen Gallery with paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, ceramics, etc…of species from our majestic animal kingdom! Come and explore how area artists depict animals, both domestic and wild, including amphibians, birds, fish, invertebrates, mammals and reptiles. With over 30 million species of animals in the world--the possibilities are endless!

Partner with VAC and PetFix Northeast Ohio
For "Creatures Featured", we will also partner with PetFix Northeast Ohio to create awareness and raise money for their mobile spay/neuter clinic. The 33’ PetFix mobile clinic is a state-of-the-art surgery center on wheels that services 7 counties! PetFix provides a low-cost option to spay/neuter cats and dogs for those who can’t afford private veterinary fees.
We’ve created 3 fun programs for the local community to choose from and help raise money. First, PET PIN-UPS, let’s you honor your pet(s) by sending us your favorite picture, we “pin it up” on our specially designed wall and everyone gets to enjoy your pet when they come to see “Creatures Featured.” Second, SPAY IT FORWARD allows the community to sponsor surgeries to off-set the cost. And finally, VAC will have a DONATION BOX at the art center to collect these FIVE WISH LIST ITEMS for the mobile clinic!
